Shopping streets around Sensoji Temple

Nakamise is the most famous shopping street in Asakusa, it started in the Edo period. There are over 60 shopping streets in Asakusa. Especially around Sensoji Temple, it is like a market place. Also you may feel like you’ve become a lost child on crowded, complex shopping streets!

浅草の商店街

浅草の商店街は有名なものだけでも60以上。裏道や横道にも穴場のような店があるので、気の向くまま散策を楽しもう。人出が多く、道が複雑なので、掘り出し物を見つけたら即買いがおすすめ!

HOZUKI ICHI

Shopping center since the Edo period

This is the approach to Senso-ji Temple, which about 250m long.
The street has been crowded since the Edo period! Now there are about 90 shops including store established in the Edo period. You can buy typical Japanese souvenir!

仲見世通り商店街

江戸時代から賑わう浅草寺の参道。江戸文化を感じられる職人技の和雑貨が人気。浅草名物の雷おこしや人形焼きの実演販売も。

ASAKUSA-HANA-YASHIKI


HOZUKI ICHI

The oldest amusement park in Japan

The route was the flower garden was which opened by landscape gardener Mr. Rokusaburo Morita in the Edo period 1853. “Hana” means flower, “Yashiki” means residence. And after that it changed an amusement park in the Meij period (1868〜1911), The oldest attraction “Bkikkuri-house” is which made in 1949. Anyway celebrate 160th anniversary in 2013!!
Here is wonderland atmosphere for Japanese people, because everything is old in tight space. The roller coaster is the most famous here. I have taken it with Tamaki after a long absence, it make us scare!! You must take on it! (400yen/ Height limited 110cm and over)

浅草花やしき/遊園地

嘉永6年開園の日本最古の遊園地。小さい空間に昭和の味わい満載です。ローラーコースターの独特の迫力は体験の価値あり!3カ所あるパワースポットで運気UPも。夜は貸し切り可能で、結婚式の2次会等で盛り上がれます!

Traditional handicrafts museum

Since the Edo period many handicraftsmen have lived in Asakusa area is called “Shitamachi. Because the city of Edo was the center of economy and the main market of Japan, and people lived separated in each area by own rank.
Now you can watch Edo’s aesthetics finding today’s expressions here, which are about 50 kinds traditional handicrafts.
We have recommended demonstrations on the small stage at 1st flour from 11:00 to 17:00 every Saturday and Sunday. You can watch it very close however admission free! 
If you arrival at intermission of demonstration, it is maybe OK.

江戸下町伝統工芸館/ギャラリー匠

台東区立のギャラリーで、展示や販売、間近での実演(毎週土日のみ11時から5時)、DVD鑑賞コーナーがある。他に手作り教室(要事前申込み)、伝統工芸品オークション(年2回程度)も。
2階のソファで一休みしながら、のんびり鑑賞できます。
